Instead of piles of presents under the tree, Scandi-style Santa gifts fewer, higher quality items that entice long-term, unstructured and imaginative free play, ideally outside.
I bought it in Tallinn in a Shopping Center near the City Center. But I know they have an online shop that ships internationally mooning.com - though I haven’t found it there now. But there are lots of other nice stuff:)
Wonderful ideas, Annabelle, thank you. Do you have a link for a calender( our kid is 7). Also to some ideas:
-full face helmet- I’ve learned it‘s best to choose one with removable chine part.
-skis
-not a year long enjoyment, but still great: experiences like voucher to go to a chocolate fabric together or favourite spa/waterpark, theater, opera etc. an also be arranged with best friends if your families like spending time together
Love the experiences! It's becoming a very Nordic thing to gift experiences - I somehow figured kids in the US really want the presents under a tree (visually seeing the ground covered :-) but maybe that's changing here too? Because those are so wonderful! And good tip on the full face helmet - I realize we have one with and one without and the it's more multi-use when you can remove it. And skis yes! I wish we could cross-country ski here as that would be so much fun. (For downhill you have to travel too).
Well know Russian and we live in Austria, here it is quite popular. We usually have it printed and wrapped in roll or envelope and it goes under the Christmas tree as a present for the family:)
Love! Yes! I'm so glad you added that. What instruments do you like the most? I think we gifted a keyboard one year and that's been a long term gift; the guitar we gifted one year not so much (but we couldn't find a teacher to teach him so I think that's probably why!)
And we love water bottles like dopper or Stanley cups.
Yes, great idea, thank you! Especially for the sports kids!
And of course board games: everything from uni extreme to (moomin-troll themed;)) Ludo or snakes and ledders, skippbo, magic labyrinth or backgammon.
There's a moomin themed board game? How did I not know about this - sound amazIng! Do you know where it can be bought?
