Great topic! Definitely something my partner and I have discussed a lot.
I know you have discussed it in several posts, but I would love to continue to hear about the Finnish approach to activities for pre high school age children.
And also about the Finnish approach to awards for sports and other activities-as an extension of the “participation trophy” discussion
Yes! I need to write more on that - especially as despite all my efforts -we are still currently sort of drowning in sports & activities. And you are reading my mind: now that one of my sons is in travel soccer, I was so puzzled when after one tournament - that they didn’t win - they all got trophies - and always cookies.I’m actively investigating the Scandi approach !
I’m able to get good intel especially from ice hockey parents as I got to know a few well - as that’s likely the number 1 route to become a world-class athlete in Finland (several have and do play in NHL)
Love it! Hold old are they? My boys and I love making travel wish lists while looking at travel mags & coffee table travel books: right now it includes Greenland, Iceland, Japan.

I'm going to ask the kids where they want to go on the next vacation.
