I tried to write a book awhile ago about my experience of trying to bring my Danish inspired life to the US. Ultimately I was not able to move forward on it because the publisher thought it would “ depress” Americans too much. I don’t know what to say. We have the wealth and the innovation to do this, but when faced with these alternatives we seem to think it’s impossible.
I recently witnessed this first-hand. I think the biggest difference is the free school-provided breakfast, hot lunch, and healthy snack. No need to pack anything in the morning. Many daycares have playgrounds on their own yard, and in our Finnish daycare, they even have a mini "city" for learning to bike and their own little forest to roam around with a picnic table!
